I was inspired by the innovative work of Sir John Herschel, who, in the early years of the 19th Century, had became an expert in the fields of astronomy, botany, mathematics and chemistry, before devoting his time to experimenting with the brand new discipline of photography. I tried to combine all of his interests, recreating scientific photographs with a microscopic eye.
Somang Lee is a London-based Illustrator and a graduate of the Royal College of Art, where she completed a Masters Degree in Communication Art & Design. She also studied at Central Saint Martins School of Art & Design, where she graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Illustration and Graphic Design. Stories are at the heart of what inspires her, as an image-maker, animator and performer, she always loved the ability to immerse herself in a good story and liked to create new worlds where reality and the imagined meet and become something unexpected.
