Your strangest gifts

10th April 2012 by Dan H

While preparing the “Double your MOOlah” offer for our Refer a Friend programme, we were discussing gifts and I happened to mention that I once got given a taxidermy stoat on a plastic horse.

After the laughter subsided, we thought it would be fun to run a little competition and ask the MOO community on Facebook what the strangest gift is they’d ever received.

As always, you didn’t fail to disappoint with some funny and quite simply bizarre examples of odd gifts.

Having gone through all the entries, we’ve settled on Carmen Adams squashed Turkey Sandwich as our winner. It’s not only strange, but also comes with a fantastic story and good intentions!

Congratulations Carmen!

Of course, we couldn’t help but share some of these other strange gift suggestions that left us laughing here at MOO HQ…

Thanks to everyone who took part, and if you’ve got any other examples of strange gifts, we’d love to hear them in the comments below!

When I was about 16, my father gave me a mummified bat. It had got shut in his watercolours drawer and, six months later, when it was his painting season again he found it perfectly preserved amongst the tubes. He gave it to me carefully laid out in a match box. I was just off to art school and oddly enough it didn’t seem strange at the time!!

  2. Walt:

My older brother once gave me a blank cassette. The cheapest kind and 60 mins. Bought at a service station on the way to Christmas. Um, thanks…

When it comes to gifts, there is no limit to creativity, well done, loved it.

although i’m dealing with gifts that are not so strange i must say that sometimes the simple little gifts are the ones who do the real work and fail to surprise the person who received them.
