Now, we journey to The Third Zone…

The Third Zone: Blazing a Trail

Finally, we turn our gaze on Blaise. Her journey is taking place somewhere between the external world and the regulation of time. Her journey carries her both forward and backwards in time. Her journey can only be taking place… in the Third Zone.

Viewed one way, Blaise’s journey can be seen as a warning about the future. Viewed another, it can be seen as a hopeful statement about the past. This is the power of paths walked in the Third Zone–they can hold different meanings each time they are traversed.

Blaise, for the moment, sees herself as a child taking a bath–innocent and safe in her mother’s arms. Then as a young woman in a tranquil scene that holds a hint of entrapment and peril with its blood red hues and confining cage. Finally she she’s herself in portraiture, broken, but strong. Standing firm against the injustices of her life to create beauty out of suffering.

Blaise's Vision

Tomorrow, were she to take this trip again she’d likely see things differently. But regardless of her perspective, no matter how many times she takes this trip, the journey will bring her to this place, this time, where a deep menacing voice rumbles up from below saying, “Who’s that trip-trip-tropping across my bridge?”

Q: What three artists created Blaise’s glimpses of the past?

Good luck everybody! We’ll post the answers (and winners) tomorrow.
