VanDeGraaf

Double-sided Business Cards

This design, while every bit as hair-raising as its namesake machine, is actually inspired by early printing, and the long-hidden ancient principles of proper page decoration. It’s just we’ve taken those principles and given them a jolt, with these violent shards of geometric colour.

About the designer preview

Even though Van De Graaf (not the same man who invented the generator) did not invent the medieval page construction, known as the ‘secret canon’, he discovered it. Most of the early printed Bibles feature the ‘secret canon’, but still can be found in contemporary book design. The areas and shapes created are filled with vivid and loud colours, creating a well-balanced feeling of tension, to make this design stand out amongst others.
