A new way to print

Let’s face it. Ask anyone what they’ve always wanted to do, but haven’t quite got round to yet, and if it’s not being a famous popstar or actor, it’ll be writing a book.

So what’s stopping us putting pen to paper and sending our literary offspring out into the world? For a start, getting your book published is ridiculously difficult and expensive, right? And how do you even know if anyone will like your idea?

Enter Unbound, a crowdfunding platform that’s been shaking up the publishing industry since 2011. A sort of Kickstarter for books, Unbound allows writers to pitch ideas directly to readers who pledge funding support if they’re interested. If they raise enough money the book goes ahead. Simple.

Fledgling Flyers

Unsurprisingly, Unbound have been as innovative with getting their word out there, as they have with their business model, and they’ve been using MOO to do it for a good while now (thanks guys!). Now, hot on the heels of the beautiful Luxe MiniCards they’ve been giving their authors to hand out at events, and the clever set of Luxe Postcards they created for their recent ‘Lists of Note’ competition (check out what they did with them here), come their exciting new Flyers.

As Charlie Gleason, Unbound’s Head of Product explains, “When we heard about MOO Flyers, we realized their potential straightaway. Our books are often given as gifts, so many people don’t realize the unique journey theirs went through to get to them. Popping a Flyer into the package with the book is a great way of telling people who we are and what we do.” Unbound are also planning to hand them out at some of the exciting events they have planned over the coming months.

Covering all the bases

When it came to creating their Flyers, the design route was a no-brainer. “Our covers are our most valuable design assets”, Charlie tells us. “They represent the incredible amount of work and energy that goes into publishing a book, and the amazing people who have contributed to making that book happen.” Thanks to Printfinity, Unbound can show off their impressive range of publications, with a different cover on the back of each Flyer. “It’s a way of celebrating our authors and readers, and the brilliant community they have built with us.”

Such is the strength of these visuals that you’ll find them across all of Unbound’s stationery – including their Business Cards. And they’re planning to add to the range soon, not least because people’s reaction to their printed materials is always such a joy to witness. “In a digital world, the experience of having something to physically interact with is an incredibly rich one. It’s just like getting your hands on a book – some people love nothing more, and here at Unbound we appreciate that more than most.”

For £10 off the special edition of Shaun Usher’s 'Letters of Note', published by Unbound, use the code 2moo at their checkout. Based on the hugely popular website of the same name, Letters of Note is an entertaining and unique celebration of the power of written correspondence - an inspiring read.

If you, like Unbound, are looking to really capture your audience’s imagination, then why not take a leaf out of their book (pun intended!) and create your own set of eye-catching Flyers?
