Your brand identity is the outward visual appearance of your business. So whilst a thorough brand refresh (rethinking your tagline, your target audience, maybe even your core values) is likely to involve a good deal of structural change, updating your identity is more cosmetic. We caught up with Adam Goldberg and Monika Kehrer, Co-Founders of branding agency TRÜF, to find out what it takes to do just this.
We love speaking to experts in the MOO community and recently caught up with Brendan Stephens, the Creative Director at Zipcar, the world’s largest car sharing and car club service. He isn’t just any creative director – his work has been recognised by The Webby Awards, The Ad Club’s Hatch Awards and the Society of Publication Designers, to name just a few. Plus, his team is the genius behind Zipcar’s “I’d Tap That” campaign. We’re impressed.
When I tell people that I’m studying part-time alongside a full-time job, people tend to look quite impressed; “Wow, how do you manage to fit it all in?” Many people say they’d struggle finding the motivation to study after a long day at the office. I always reply by saying I would probably feel the same, but luckily for me, I love my course and I love my job too – so it’s pretty easy to get motivated!
I’ve been studying towards a marketing qualification part-time since March last year, alongside my current job working as MOO’s Office Assistant. I’ve enjoyed getting involved with different aspects of MOO, all of which demand a …Continue reading this article…
Here at MOO HQ we’re always coming across things companies are doing that make us go WOW, whether or not it’s through the use of MOO products or just a great idea that we can’t help talking about.
Office space! Doesn’t sound that exciting does it? What about if I told you it was based in the heart of London in between Leicester Square and Covent Garden, taking up a whole third floor of a large building? Still No? What about if I said they have …Continue reading this article…
One way to make your designs and Business Cards stand out is a “less is more” approach that some of our creative customers have used to market their personal brand. As usual, these examples merely the tip of your creative iceberg – but here are a few that caught our eye.
Brand new customer Nate Imhoff chose to, in his own words “keep my collateral simple” with these clean, stark cards. Nate explains “I believe good design is good business, and giving my collateral too much personality could detract from my work, which I want to speak for itself.” We think you’ll agree, he gets his message across very well!
And of course, our creative community (that’s you!) has been in on the secret for ages. Here are just a handful of our favourites:
PHP Developer and self confessed “general geek” Ben Dodson uses no ordinary contact details, only a QR code on his Business Cards to help people he meets keep abreast of his many, many online projects and social networking profiles, including Twitter, Delicious, Facebook, and Flickr. Plus, the images show off all of his hobbies!
Every so often a tech startup comes along that’s just way too cool for school – in a good way of course! Our new partner, the funky West Coast based about.me is like that person in your life that takes one look at your messy room, and in fifteen minutes, has tidied your desk, filed all your papers and done your taxes without even breaking a sweat. You can see why we’d want to become partners with that person!
So what do they do that’s so cool? Well, for one thing, they allow you to create a profile page that collates all your online profiles – like Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, LinkedIn, plus any other work you’re involved …Continue reading this article…
New Year resolutions are one of those December traditions we never really give much thought, like mulled wine, roasted chestnuts and ugly Christmas jumpers, it just feels right. And they’re great because, in theory, you can decide to change anything, from the minuscule to the massive to the totally practical – the ancient Babylonians often resolved to return their neighbours’ farming equipment!
But if your resolution is something a bit bigger than going to the gym – like starting your own business – then sticking to it has significantly higher stakes! Surveys have shown that 3 out of 4 people break within the first few months.
So how do you give yourself the best shot at achieving your goal and building a …Continue reading this article…
It’s been a whirlwind few months here at The Business Card Project. We’ve kept our designers nice and busy redesigning some of the most boring business cards we could find. We just finished our last few redesigns, so be sure to check out our business card inspiration gallery. Now there’s really no excuse to have boring business cards!
We had a blast working with every company and think all the redesigns are remarkable. But which redesign do you think is the best? We’re torn, that’s for sure. So help us decide! Rate each ‘before and after’ using the star rating at the bottom of each gallery page and the company with the highest number of votes and the highest …Continue reading this article…
We had so much fun reading all the entries submitted and were absolutely amazed by all the clever ideas. Your ideas surprised us (in a good way) and taught us… a lot. So, thanks!
We were – almost literally – blown away by the number of posts we received. We had such a difficult time selecting the winners, that it took us a little longer than expected.
So without further ado, here are the winners in each category:
Grand prize: Clint Davis, who impressed us with his amazing marketing mailout
2nd prize: Yael Frankel, for her mini notebooks made with MiniCards
3rd prize: Julie Oakley, who shared the idea of corporate identity Business Cards
Grand prize: Lucinda Brown, for her fantastic …Continue reading this article…
That’s right! We promised September would be full of surprises, and we meant it. First we launched our blogging competition, then we revealed our mysterious new Business Card holder, and just last week we joined forces with Picasa. So how could we end this super September without launching one more new product? We couldn’t and now we’re pleased to say StickerBooks are available in the US store. Yay!
What can you do with MOO Stickers? Loads of things! From branding and sealing, to tearing and sharing, the possibilities are endless. Take this example from Sarah Wilson of Hey Little Cupcake.
Sarah uses MOO Stickers to decorate and brand her packaging. …Continue reading this article…
Like the idea of ‘Printfinity‘ but don’t have different photos or images for your Business Cards? No problem! There’s still plenty of ways to get creative using only text. We’ve seen loads of text-based Business Cards, like BatchBlue’s use of Twitter quotes from happy customers or Equinox Photography’s fortune cookie MiniCards, that certainly stand out from the crowd. Words can have just as much impact as images, and can often be great conversation starters. Here are some examples of ways you can get creative with your cards by using only text.
We received such a positive response from our MOO Ideas Book, that we launched The Business Card Project to help inspire small businesses with a business card design inspiration gallery of their own. Since we launched the project back in June, we’ve tackled hundreds of redesigns spanning a range of industries from healthcare to consulting and entertainment to retail. No matter what industry you’re in, there’s really no excuse for boring business cards. And as they say, ‘the proof is in the pudding’, so here we go!
Mobile Libations, a cocktail catering company in San Francisco, benefited from a $500-share of our $250,000 design investment. We took their wonderful collection of cocktail shots and turned their black & …Continue reading this article…
Coming up with a business name is just the first step in marketing yourself to the big wild world. Taking that name and positively associating it with a strong brand can mean the difference between commercial success and mediocrity. When we spotted photographer Corina Nielsen‘s MiniCards and complimentary Stickers we suspected we’d found someone who knew a thing or two about branding – and we weren’t wrong! Consistently themed – on a sensible budget -and with an expert eye for design, it was obvious the ‘Corina Nielsen brand’ was one we could learn from. So we got in touch…
Specialising in family/children’s photography, but trained in design, Corina explained why …Continue reading this article…
