MOO Dev team celebrate Sprint 100

A couple of weeks ago, there was much celebration of a big day for the Development team here at MOO HQ; we reached the release day of our 100th Sprint. “100th Sprint, what on earth is that?” I hear you ask. Apart from being an online printing company do you also happen to participate in competitive athletics? No, unfortunately not. In the software development method we follow, a Sprint is the basic unit of development. The method is called agile development (ours is called Scrum), which consists of Sprints. The Sprints iteratively and incrementally help us build more and more of the remarkable …Continue reading this article…

The Business Cards of the Future – NFC

September 2012, by Martin | 206 Comments – latest by Berniss

Since MOO started in 2006, we’ve been focused on the idea of revolutionizing the Business Card. We’ve always aimed to upset the existing order within print – to do new things, think in exciting ways, and to go where no man has gone before. **ahem**

Six years later those aims haven’t changed. We still want to upset the order, and we still want to make people gasp – in a good way, and we still want to meet a Klingon. As a consequence, a small group here at MOO HQ has been secretly working on some exciting new things that we hope will help to define the way that we all exchange personal information in the future. Whilst we’re not ready …Continue reading this article…

The MOO Crew get hacking

September 2012, by James B | Add a comment

Here at MOO, we love technology, and so every now and then we take a break from our “roadmap” to get a bit creative by having a Hack Day.

The Brief

It’s a chance to try out a working prototype of an adventurous idea. It can be something to improve moo.com, or it can be office related. Or it can just be a bit of fun involving some clever piece of technology. Hack Day only has two rules:

People can work individually, or in teams. The only requirement is that you do something and then make a short presentation about that something at the end of Hack Day.
There is no number 2.

Thursday, 9:00am: all participants gathered in the office canteen to fuel up …Continue reading this article…

Space to think with Mozilla

April 2012, by Paul L | Add a comment

Here at MOO HQ we’re always coming across things companies are doing that make us go WOW, whether or not it’s through the use of MOO products or just a great idea that we can’t help talking about.

The other day was no different when myself and Lisa Rodwell were invited to the Mozilla London Foundation’s launch party showing off their swanky new office space.

Office space!  Doesn’t sound that exciting does it?  What about if I told you it was based in the heart of London in between Leicester Square and Covent Garden, taking up a whole third floor of a large building?  Still No? What about if I said they have …Continue reading this article…

QR Codes and Microsoft tags on your MOO cards

June 2011, by Andrea | 22 Comments – latest by Haraj Cars

Using QR codes and Microsoft tags on your Business Cards and MiniCards is the latest way to make it even easier for the people you meet to contact you.

And of course, our creative community (that’s you!) has been in on the secret for ages. Here are just a handful of our favourites:

QR codes

PHP Developer and self confessed “general geek” Ben Dodson uses no ordinary contact details, only a QR code on his Business Cards to help people he meets keep abreast of his many, many online projects and social networking profiles, including Twitter, Delicious, Facebook, and Flickr. Plus, the images show off all of his hobbies!

A warm MOO welcome to about.me

June 2011, by Andrea | 9 Comments – latest by Amy S. Chan

Every so often a tech startup comes along that’s just way too cool for school – in a good way of course! Our new partner, the funky West Coast based about.me is like that person in your life that takes one look at your messy room, and in fifteen minutes, has tidied your desk, filed all your papers and done your taxes without even breaking a sweat. You can see why we’d want to become partners with that person!

So what do they do that’s so cool? Well, for one thing, they allow you to create a profile page that collates all your online profiles – like Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, LinkedIn, plus any other work you’re involved …Continue reading this article…

Announcing People’s Choice!

October 2010, by Rebeka | 16 Comments – latest by Akemi

It’s been a whirlwind few months here at The Business Card Project. We’ve kept our designers nice and busy redesigning some of the most boring business cards we could find. We just finished our last few redesigns, so be sure to check out our business card inspiration gallery. Now there’s really no excuse to have boring business cards!

We had a blast working with every company and think all the redesigns are remarkable. But which redesign do you think is the best? We’re torn, that’s for sure. So help us decide! Rate each ‘before and after’ using the star rating at the bottom of each gallery page and the company with the highest number of votes and the highest …Continue reading this article…

Creative (text-based) cards

August 2010, by Rebeka | Add a comment

Like the idea of ‘Printfinity‘ but don’t have different photos or images for your Business Cards? No problem! There’s still plenty of ways to get creative using only text. We’ve seen loads of text-based Business Cards, like BatchBlue’s use of Twitter quotes from happy customers or Equinox Photography’s fortune cookie MiniCards, that certainly stand out from the crowd. Words can have just as much impact as images, and can often be great conversation starters. Here are some examples of ways you can get creative with your cards by using only text.
