MOO Award Trophy

December 2012, by Phil T | 3 Comments – latest by Dennis

With all the entries for the MOO Award 2012 being so creative, our creative department wanted to get in on the action too! So we set about designing a special trophy for the winner.

After some research, I found trophies were generally made out of plastic, metal or glass, which just didn’t seem right seeing as we just love paper so much! So I wanted to do something a little different, and create a trophy made entirely out of paper…

I spent a couple of weeks drawing and testing out concepts, before narrowing down our favorite three concepts to just one. I then set about figuring out how …Continue reading this article…

It’s a most wonderful time of the year to get even more crafty!

December 2012, by Jovanna | Add a comment

A couple of weeks ago, we shared a crafty piece of inspiration for your left-over Christmas Cards and showed you how to create your very own crafty star. So we thought we’d continue the theme of home-made decorations made from printed products, and this time I was inspired by  Chinese paper lanterns, and I realised they sort of look like baubles, too!

This craft is really straightforward to make; you don’t even need any glue, so it’s less messy! You’ll just need 2 greeting cards, a hole-puncher, a pencil, a ruler, 2 paper fasteners, 1 piece of string.

Our top picks of your Christmas Card designs

December 2012, by Jon | 1 Comment – latest by Tour Operators Sri Lanka

Last month we showcased some innovative Christmas and Holiday Cards that MOO Creative Director Matt G tracked down. This got us thinking; there must be hundreds of wonderful designs out there in the big wide world that Matt simply wouldn’t have time to track down by himself. So we asked our friends on Facebook and Twitter to show us what they’d seen or created.

We got so many responses that there’s simply not enough blog space to hold them all! We’ve picked just a selection of designs that really caught our eye. Without further ado, here are our top picks:

It’s a most wonderful time of year… to get crafty

December 2012, by Jovanna | Add a comment

Have you ever wondered what to do with your Holiday Cards once you’ve taken them down from your mantle-piece? Or wondered what to do with the left over cards from your pack after you’ve mailed all your friends and clients?

This star is made purely from Christmas Cards and a little glue, could make a great addition to your festive decorations and even squashes flat without breaking, so it can be sent to friends in the mail as an alternative greeting or crafty gift.

Here’s how to make your very own Holiday Card star. We’ve made the template available …Continue reading this article…

Behind the scenes with MOO designers

November 2012, by Felix | 1 Comment – latest by Gael

I always appreciate receiving a handmade present, there’s something rather personal and special about it. When we decided to make new sets of Greeting Cards, I wanted to bring as much as possible of a handmade feel into my designs.

For inspiration I settled on one of the most iconic seasonal themes and symbols; the snowflake. Snowflakes are incredibly intricate and fascinating objects that always amaze me when I see them up close. ‘But how do I bring the human touch into a printed product?’, I asked myself. The answer to this question lies in the combination of paper and photography. I decided to create five different …Continue reading this article…

We’re not the only ones who make Greeting Cards!

November 2012, by Jon | 27 Comments – latest by Kimberly Mortson

We just launched a new range of Greeting Card packs, and we’re rather pleased with them. It occurred to us, though, that we’re not the only ones who come up with creative designs. We’d absolutely love to see the cool company greetings you’ve sent and received or simply stumbled upon. You can share your finds with us by posting them on our Facebook page or by Tweeting them to us @overheardatmoo.

To get us started, we turned to Matt G – MOO’s very own creative guru (and fashion guru, have you seen those jumpers?) He thought he’d have a look around for how companies …Continue reading this article…

Paper engineering at MOO HQ

May 2012, by Dan H | 2 Comments – latest by LilyNrman

You may have noticed from our Facebook galleries that we’ve been playing with paper a lot recently here at MOO HQ. It started with a couple of workshops run by Helen Friel, introducing us to paper engineering, and ended with the perfect brief for our design team to put their newly learnt skills to good use!

The first workshop focused on the technical side of things – folding paper and making pop up cards, while the second workshop turned our attention to the more creative elements of paper engineering – cutting paper and building layered dioramas.

Here’s some of the MOO Crew …Continue reading this article…

Postcards from the edge

March 2011, by Charlotte | 6 Comments – latest by Architectural visualisations

Well, we knew it wouldn’t take you long to grab our new double-sided Postcards and put your personal stamp all over it – and we weren’t disappointed. Over the last few months, we’ve been watching Flickr with a hawk-eye for anything extraordinary, and as you can see, we were spoilt for choice.

Stylish photographer Kylie Clarke Photography has taken full advantage of being able to upload pdfs to both sides of the Postcard, by branding both sides of her promo Postcards with her arresting images, plus contact details.

Spreading the MOO love

February 2011, by Snow | 1 Comment – latest by Chloe

Whether you’re cozying up by the fire during the recent blizzards, or embracing the cold weather by ice-skating or skiing with a sweetheart, Valentine’s Day is approaching. We know love is in the air. In fact, we’ve even received some love and thankfulness from many of you! We’ve been grateful to have several happy customers give us a taste of their products (literally) after helping them out with their MOO orders.

What could be better than receiving a box of baklava in the mail while we’re hard at work answering your customer service questions? We’re not sure, because the baklava we received from Glad Annie’s Old World Baklava, …Continue reading this article…

Stuck on MOO

November 2010, by Andrea | Add a comment

Well it’s been a month since we launched MOO StickerBooks in the US, and the Flickr sticker fans lurking not-so-furtively among you have been busy! We knew America had talent, but we’re beyond impressed with your cool ideas. It’s always a bit nerve wracking launching into a new market but if your love for stickers on Flickr is anything to go by, we won’t get unstuck any time soon!

This gorgeous StickerBook is by Japan-based photographer Yoshiko, who kept it simple, putting her delicately sketched wildlife photography onto our StickerBooks, then packaging them up beautifully and distributing them sheet per sheet. Brilliant!
