Snap your inspiration to win Lomography goodies

January 2014, by Jon | Add a comment

We love the Internet; the fast paced ability to share ideas, questions, and of course, pictures of cats. Sometimes though, in order to get truly inspired, it can be really helpful to slow things down, get away from your desk, and have a bit of a breather.

For proof that it works, look no further than The Eureka Diaries. It was during a family holiday that the idea for Spinfish came to Stephanie, while Steve, founder of Be One Percent, was inspired while enjoying some downtime in his hotel room while touring with Paul Weller!

That’s just one reason why we’re really excited that we’ve teamed up with Lomography. …Continue reading this article…

We’ll admit it, when we asked for your secret skills and hobbies we expected lots of very interesting (and dare we say, some slightly bizarre) entries. Well you have delivered…and we love it.

We’ve still got a mountain of entries to look through, but we wanted to get ahead of the game and share a selection of these with you now (You can expect a series of blogs coming in the near future!)

Let’s also say, it’s confirmed just how creative, interesting and inspiring our community is.

Take for example, Bob Yoder, who we think may have trained at the Matrix School of martial …Continue reading this article…

Bits and Pieces – a deconstructed look at old mobile phones

February 2013, by Felix | 1 Comment – latest by raquel

For our latest set of Business Card designs, which we’ve aptly named Bit and Pieces, there was a fair amount of destruction that had to occur before any creation took place. I’m always interested by the way things work, or why things are the way they are, take, for example, the ever-present mobile phone.

MOO Inkdrop made from disassembled old phones

The mystery – a bit like invisible magic –  inside products really fascinates me. When I was about to throw away a few broken old mobile phones that had accumulated over the years, it struck me that …Continue reading this article…

Our top picks of your Christmas Card designs

December 2012, by Jon | 1 Comment – latest by Tour Operators Sri Lanka

Last month we showcased some innovative Christmas and Holiday Cards that MOO Creative Director Matt G tracked down. This got us thinking; there must be hundreds of wonderful designs out there in the big wide world that Matt simply wouldn’t have time to track down by himself. So we asked our friends on Facebook and Twitter to show us what they’d seen or created.

We got so many responses that there’s simply not enough blog space to hold them all! We’ve picked just a selection of designs that really caught our eye. Without further ado, here are our top picks:

Behind the scenes with MOO designers

November 2012, by Felix | 1 Comment – latest by Gael

I always appreciate receiving a handmade present, there’s something rather personal and special about it. When we decided to make new sets of Greeting Cards, I wanted to bring as much as possible of a handmade feel into my designs.

For inspiration I settled on one of the most iconic seasonal themes and symbols; the snowflake. Snowflakes are incredibly intricate and fascinating objects that always amaze me when I see them up close. ‘But how do I bring the human touch into a printed product?’, I asked myself. The answer to this question lies in the combination of paper and photography. I decided to create five different …Continue reading this article…

We’re not the only ones who make Greeting Cards!

November 2012, by Jon | 27 Comments – latest by Kimberly Mortson

We just launched a new range of Greeting Card packs, and we’re rather pleased with them. It occurred to us, though, that we’re not the only ones who come up with creative designs. We’d absolutely love to see the cool company greetings you’ve sent and received or simply stumbled upon. You can share your finds with us by posting them on our Facebook page or by Tweeting them to us @overheardatmoo.

To get us started, we turned to Matt G – MOO’s very own creative guru (and fashion guru, have you seen those jumpers?) He thought he’d have a look around for how companies …Continue reading this article…

Too pretty to open – creative packaging with MOO

October 2012, by Andrea | 9 Comments – latest by Photo Booth

Obviously you want people to open the present they’ve received or parcel they’ve ordered – but if you’ve done a great job with the packaging, they’ll probably think twice about ripping the paper off without taking the time to admire the effort!

Once again, we turn to our creative community for inspiration – because while we make the cards, we never stop learning ways to use them from you. And these three examples are a really good start to unleashing your pretty packaging potential.

Photographer Robyn’s an old friend of MOO – and she’s a lady who understands the positive power of packaging. She creates festive MiniCardContinue reading this article…

Scary good ideas from our Halloween competition winners

October 2012, by Jon | 6 Comments – latest by tankrides

Despite not having the scariest of product ranges (what could be scary about Business Cards?) we do quite enjoy Halloween here at MOO HQ. Mainly because it gives us an excuse to dress up in silly costumes and eat lots of tasty treats.

And with fright night only a couple of weeks away, we’d thought we would ask for inspiration from our wonderful customers. We asked you to show us your uses of MOO products in your Halloween celebrations. And we were absolutely delighted with what you showed us. Here are our favourites.

These tasty (trust us, we sampled them!) and stylishly wrapped Pate de Fruits by our friends at Zukr Boutique who use …Continue reading this article…

We have a winner! Da Vinci’s Label competition

September 2012, by Jon | 4 Comments – latest by Joe Sparks

A few weeks ago we asked you to design a sticky label for Leonardo Da Vinci. Drum roll please… It’s time to announce the winner of the design-a-sticky-label-for-Leonardo-Da-Vinci-competition (we really are excellent at coming up with snappy, memorable names for things at MOO)!

We were really amazed at the number of submissions that were attractive and intelligent (two adjectives we like to think also apply to the MOO Crew) and we have whittled them down to select a winner.

After much deliberation and hours of sifting through great big sacks full of postal entries (OK, we lied – emails) we’re very excited to announce that Micha Lema has been selected as the winner! We loved the fun mix of old and modern, …Continue reading this article…

Stickers from a big country

August 2011, by Charlotte | 3 Comments – latest by Jack Hodges

Drinking my mid-morning coffee I was browsing through some of your fantastic #CityStickers entries and noticed how a certain big country (that’s you America) has totally got stuck in (sorry) these past few days! Of course I just couldn’t keep it to myself and thought I’d share my finds with you on our blog:

Sarah: Georgia

Gina: Elmira, New York

…some more #CityStickers (less than a week to go!)

August 2011, by Charlotte | 2 Comments – latest by HerArtSheLoves

‘Start as you mean to carry on’, that’s how the saying goes, right? Well, the last couple #CityStickers round ups have been grouped in definite themes (the great outdoors and, of course, food) and I’m sticking to my guns!

Representing the great outdoors we’ve got Rita making all of us in the UK office jealous with her Portuguese beach shot and Bill representing Connecticut’s natural beauty. Food is covered by HerArtSheLoves showing her handmade robot balancing on a Florida orange. We’ve also got a new theme emerging in the form of travelling, with bearandrobot showing us how often they’ve left the UK archipelago (um, jealous?). Heather takes it a stage further and goes all multinational on us by …Continue reading this article…

A Mini celebration

July 2011, by Charlotte | 17 Comments – latest by Aracely

As MOO’s ‘first-born’, MiniCards have a very special place in our hearts. And, like a proud parent, we want to show them off! So, in a little round up, here are just some of the recent great examples that have been appearing on our Flickr and Facebook pages:

MiniCards as Postcard gift tags

As Red Berry Hill design company, Nicole creates eye-catching cards and postcards which she then sells on. She uses her MOO MiniCards as tags to state on one side what’s inside the packet, and on the other side her website details – all beautifully designed to match the Postcards themselves! A really …Continue reading this article…

Stuck on MOO

November 2010, by Andrea | Add a comment

Well it’s been a month since we launched MOO StickerBooks in the US, and the Flickr sticker fans lurking not-so-furtively among you have been busy! We knew America had talent, but we’re beyond impressed with your cool ideas. It’s always a bit nerve wracking launching into a new market but if your love for stickers on Flickr is anything to go by, we won’t get unstuck any time soon!

This gorgeous StickerBook is by Japan-based photographer Yoshiko, who kept it simple, putting her delicately sketched wildlife photography onto our StickerBooks, then packaging them up beautifully and distributing them sheet per sheet. Brilliant!

October 2010, by Rebeka | 16 Comments – latest by Akemi

It’s been a whirlwind few months here at The Business Card Project. We’ve kept our designers nice and busy redesigning some of the most boring business cards we could find. We just finished our last few redesigns, so be sure to check out our business card inspiration gallery. Now there’s really no excuse to have boring business cards!

We had a blast working with every company and think all the redesigns are remarkable. But which redesign do you think is the best? We’re torn, that’s for sure. So help us decide! Rate each ‘before and after’ using the star rating at the bottom of each gallery page and the company with the highest number of votes and the highest …Continue reading this article…

We’re friends with Picasa!

September 2010, by Denise | Add a comment

Well, it’s been at least a week since we announced something new, and it happens, we rather enjoyed it. This week we thought we’d launch something else, and so here it is: we’ve joined forces with Picasa!

So many of you have been asking for this over the years, we thought it was about time we got on with it. And so, if you’re a Picasa user, now you can now import your photos straight to MOO, make some MOO products and share those with friends and new contacts in the real world.

Keep an eye on this blog and the newsletter, as we have a few more things you might like coming up pretty …Continue reading this article…

Handwritten business cards

August 2010, by Rebeka | 1 Comment – latest by James Darling

If you haven’t already guessed, Business Cards are quite a big deal over here at MOO HQ. We know the importance of always having Business Cards with you, since you never know who’ll meet. But what about those times when you get back from an event or conference, and you just can’t remember who that person was or why you have their Business Card? Sometimes you quickly jot down notes in the margins, often resulting in blank stares as you try to decode your squished, messy handwriting.

We know the feeling. And then we spotted these stunning cards from Claudia K Opticians.

Woo! It’s the new MOO…

August 2010, by Martin | 9 Comments – latest by JodiB

Those of you familiar with MOO will have noticed some pretty major changes to our site over the past day or so. Yes, we’ve redesigned the site!

As we’ve been hinting at for the past few months, we’ve been preparing some changes to the site, and this is the first of a series of upgrades we will be making over the next couple of months. Let’s look at what’s changed and why…

So what’s new? A new homepage for one thing! Hopefully you’ll agree that it provides a fresh and clean outlook on the various MOO products, as well presenting useful and relevant information into new ways you can use your Business Cards, MiniCards and more! There’s links to …Continue reading this article…

Brand new – in the market for marketing

July 2010, by Fiona | 8 Comments – latest by KatyS

Coming up with a business name is just the first step in marketing yourself to the big wild world. Taking that name and positively associating it with a strong brand can mean the difference between commercial success and mediocrity. When we spotted photographer Corina Nielsen‘s MiniCards and complimentary Stickers we suspected we’d found someone who knew a thing or two about branding – and we weren’t wrong! Consistently themed – on a sensible budget -and with an expert eye for design, it was obvious the ‘Corina Nielsen brand’ was one we could learn from. So we got in touch…

Specialising in family/children’s photography, but trained in design, Corina explained why …Continue reading this article…

Introducing: The Business Card Project

June 2010, by Rebeka | 3 Comments – latest by jane nearing

If you’ve been following this blog for a while or met any of us in person, you probably know we’re passionate about design. That’s why we take great care and effort designing products, packaging and even our website to ensure anyone can easily create beautiful, well-designed cards. We know you know the difference a well-designed card can make and how it can be the difference between getting remembered or getting tossed in the rubbish bin. You only need to scroll through the MOO Flickr pool for proof of the amazing cards MOOsters have created!

Sadly, we’re still being handed limp, torn, dog-eared business cards. We think these cards send a signal that this business or person doesn’t …Continue reading this article…
