Say Hello to MOO on TV!

March 2014, by Simon G | 2 Comments – latest by Zenobia

There’s a definite buzz of excitement around MOO HQ at the moment, perhaps partly because we’ve changed the beans in the coffee machine, but it’s mainly due to the fact that we’ve been busy working on something rather special – a brand new TV commercial!

The project has involved teams from London and Boston, across various departments – from our creative and marketing masterminds, to our operations and printing perfectionists – everyone has (in some way or another) been involved.

The commercial will be airing in the US over the next few weeks, so you may just spot MOO on your TV. But, if you can’t wait until then or you’re elsewhere in the world, we’ve shared the video for you to …Continue reading this article…

One of the most interesting parts of any business’ story is where the founder was struck by an idea that they had to made into reality, or the life changing answer to a question they hadn’t even asked suddenly dropped into their minds. We call it the eureka moment (though we’re yet to come across another person besides Archimedes who had theirs in the bath…)

Welcome to The Eureka Diaries, a series of real life accounts from MOO customers running successful businesses, telling us all about that unforgettable moment that propelled a simple idea into a fully fledged business.

Introducing the MOO Awards’ new “One to Watch” category!

December 2013, by Simon G | 7 Comments – latest by Becky Westaway

We were overwhelmed with entries in every category for this year’s MOO Awards, and reading through them all, we realized there was one more category forming right before our eyes; businesses built around a brilliant, original idea that needed just another year or so to become a business powerhouse.

So without further ado, meet the MOO Award ‘One to Watch’ winner… Becky Westaway with Milly & Bear, whose reaction to winning was endearingly honest and heartwarming at the same time.

“There were moments when the tiredness of being a new mum, the loneliness of setting up a company and the frustration in trying to get the product right caused me to seriously consider giving up.” Becky revealed, before …Continue reading this article…

Oh, what a year!

December 2013, by Simon G | Add a comment

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times… although it really wasn’t the worst of times at all. In fact, we’ve had a genuine blast in 2013, although looking back, we do wonder when we found time to sleep.

So as they say in showbiz… let’s take it from the top!

The biggest news at the start of the year was the grand opening of The MOO Shop at Boxpark, or a pop up mall near MOO HQ in London, in February. It marked a big, creative side step away from our original comfort zone of online retail, giving our local customers a chance to come and touch or products in their hands, …Continue reading this article…

Choosing between one worthy winner and another is always challenging; we’d love to be able to reward everyone who runs a charitable business. Eventually, we decided on a cause that, as a digital company, is close to our own hearts. So we’re very pleased to announce that the winner of the Best Charity category is… Code Club!

Code Club is a not-for-profit social enterprise that offers a network of free, volunteer-led after-school coding clubs for children aged 9-11. Organisation founders Clare Sutcliffe and Linda Sandvik were ecstatic to win the category, and will be using …Continue reading this article…

The joy of writing

August 2013, by Simon G | 13 Comments – latest by janet gallin

It’s fair to say that we love print. But, there’s something else we love just as much – and that’s writing.

It’s one of the first things you’re taught at school, and one of the first ways you’re taught to express yourself. From an early stage, thoughts of perhaps one day becoming the next Wilde, Wells or Wodehouse are planted in our heads.

So what is it about the written word that makes us go giddy? Its growing rarity in the day of email, technology and text speak? Perhaps its intimacy, history and freedom? Or the fact we see the process: scribbled out sentences, the misspelt words and the unique scratch of someone’s handwriting (instead of the ease of the delete button)?

Illuminating the truth about The LightBox

April 2012, by Simon G | 5 Comments – latest by Ellie

As some of you may know, yesterday we launched The LightBox. It seems we missed out a few key product details, and many of you commented on the announcement asking us for more information.

There were questions about choosing laser colours…

Whether or not the packing would sync with your iPod…

And an overwhelming number of people guessing that this was an April Fools joke.

Congratulations to those of you that spotted the April 1st date! We’re sorry we couldn’t provide more details about The LightBox packaging, but we didn’t want to give the game away.

A few of you noticed we weren’t publishing all of our blog comments, we wanted to keep …Continue reading this article…

Fun Festive Facts

November 2011, by Simon G | 1 Comment – latest by Amy

Christmas seems to creep up on all of us every year. We all know it’s coming, yet it’s always a shock on Christmas eve when you’ve still got to find the perfect present for your friends, family and of course, your office Secret Santa.

The same goes for cards – what to put on them, who to send them to, and indeed when to send them. You don’t want to get caught in the postal rush just before Christmas and have your card turn up in January. And you certainly don’t want to be the one sending festive wishes in September!

We thought it’d be fun to take a closer look at Christmas Card habits, and the history of …Continue reading this article…

Powerless to help

August 2011, by Simon G | 1 Comment – latest by Matthew Badsey

As many of you have probably heard, the East Coast of America has been brutally battered by Hurricane Irene over the past couple of days. Since 7am (EST) this morning, up to half of Rhode Island has been without power – this sadly includes our US Office in Providence, Rhode Island.

Thankfully no damage has been done to the office, but without power we’re unable to print and ship your orders. As soon as power is restored, the printers (and coffee machine!) will be powered up, and we’ll be working overtime to get your orders to you.

Without power we’re also unable to respond to your customer service queries sent to our US Customer Service team. Our UK Customer …Continue reading this article…

We have a confession to make…

April 2011, by Simon G | 8 Comments – latest by Saani

Wow! We’re overwhelmed with the response we received to our product announcement on 1st April, but we have something to confess… MOO-D Ink and MOO-D Cards (along with the “break-in” at MOO HQ) were part of our April Fools. MOO-D Cards are still a glimmer in our Product Designer’s eye, but never say never…

Not liking to disappoint, you can get the MOO-D Card effect (no joke!) with one of our brand new Business Card designs – Hazy Days. This design, part of our latest Business Card design collection, has the same psychedelic colours and patterns as the MOO-D Cards with the benefit of being real!

A Business Card Breakthrough!

April 2011, by Simon G | 858 Comments – latest by Clyde Bess

It’s luckily not very often we have to share bad news on the blog. However, we felt we should let you all know that there was a break in at MOO HQ this week. Your orders are safe and no damage was done to our printing and packing equipment. It seems the people responsible knew exactly what they were looking for: our new product and technology – currently in development, and due to launch later this year.

Early this morning one of our customer service agents received an anonymous email containing a video which shows three people entering the MOO office, discovering and taking items from our research labs. These individuals are now attempting to blackmail MOO before our scheduled product …Continue reading this article…

Online/Offline

Whether these offline channels are PR or Conferences and Exhibitions, the savvy small business is stretching their purse strings a little further to cover every aspect of the marketing mix.

Web advertising (covering everything from pay-per-click through to banner ads) is still the top channel used by SMEs. According to the Marketing Week report: outbound email, direct mail, conferences and directories complete the top five marketing channels list.
