UNITE-ing with Design Museum Boston

11th March 2014 by Ashley

The Design Museum Boston believes design “has the power to make our everyday lives more comfortable, more efficient, more exciting, more rewarding, more… better.” Well, that’s certainly an idea we can get behind! Each quarter, Design Museum Boston organizes an event to “UNITE” their community with their Boston neighbors. Last month we were lucky to welcome the DMB and SMARTY (a community for women in business) to our new Boston home for UNITE @ MOO.

While munching on Bee’s Knees Supply appetizers and sipping Harpoon Brewery beer (a couple of local favorites of the MOO Crew in Boston!), attendees networked with fellow members of Boston’s design community. We had a great panel discussion that included some experts who really know what they’re talking about when it comes to design for small businesses.

Moderated by Jen Reddy of Communispace, Amy Swift Crosby of SMARTY, Libby Delana of Mechanica, and Jake Cohen of Privy discussed how design affects business, responding to – and posing – questions like: What is the future of design? How can and should design adapt to the human? What is the role of big data in design? What brands are worthy of our admiration?

We were thrilled to host the chat, and also offer up our own thoughts on design thanks to MOO Boston’s very own resident graphic designer Emily Chionchio. A hearty “thank you” to the Design Museum (and their lively crew of volunteers), SMARTY, our panelists, and all attendees for breaking in our Boston office with such enthusiasm.

If you’re in the Boston area and are interested in joining the Design Museum Boston community, find out how to do so here: http://designmuseumboston.org/join/

Of course, it wouldn’t be a MOO event without some creative uses for MOO products. Pop over to the Inspiration Gallery to see how we used some of our very own products to give our networking event some extra pizzazz for UNITE @ MOO (and get a little inspiration for yourself while you’re at it)!

Thanks so much for this write up! We had a great time, and you were all lovely to work with! Please keep an eye out for our next UNITE, happening this May– you’re all invited!

Just placed my first trial order with you guys. I am a painter and my primary subjects are bovines. With a name like Moo, you guys should be my only source from now on! Can’t wait to see my cards and pass your name along to my artist friends!
