We wanted to get 2013 off to a flying start – so to help us get rid of those pesky January blues, we invited you to explain your business idea on 5 business cards. We didn’t have to look far for inspiration – which basically means we pinched (or should we say “borrowed”?) the idea from our UK MOO Award winners ColaLife, who used their MOO cards as a brilliant pitching tool.
We’ve been very impressed with all the great entries, and we had a really tough task in judging. After much debating, we can finally reveal that our winner is *drum roll* Natalie McNichols from Visual Appetite, whose cards look good enough to eat (and we do mean that literally!).
Natalie recently graduated with a degree in photography from Daytona State College, focusing on food photography – yes, we think it sounds like the world’s best job too! She likes to make the food on the cards look as good as it does in real life – and it’s safe to say she does a great job.
What really grabbed our attention was how she presented the ideas; by cutting out the cards and having them pop-up, she can use them to show people how a real photo shoot could look. So, big congratulations to Natalie for her creative idea, which wins her some lovely MOOlah.
We also wanted to have a notable mention for Luca Guglielmi who really made us smile with his brilliant Super Mega Italian Magician idea:
Finally, a huge thanks to everyone who entered the competition; we’ve had a great time judging all the ideas, and we’re really looking forward to the next time we get to see what weird and wonderful stuff you come up with.
Calling cards should cause conversation. The cards I get from Moo, do. Thanks for leadingte way with innovative design and materials.
It’s a pity Moo don’t offer die-cutting as an option (seeing as the winning design is die-cut, or would be if actually produced) – I’d love to get my cards printed by them but they can’t service my request!
As a fellow Photographer, I commend Natalie.
Being primarily a Yoga Photographer (major client is Lululemon) as well as a Fashion / Advertising / Commercial Photographer I would like to order some cards and do something similar to what she did but with my own take on it with my own vision.
Natalie, if you are ever in Kingston or Toronto Canada we’d be happy to take you out for a meal!

P.S. my second order was officially “Lost in the Mail” so I would like to place my 1st order again (the 50 different cards) though this time could I get 5-10 sets of the 50 different cards? I can’t seem to access this order due to its promotional nature so could someone at Moo.com help me? Also need to change one line on the back of the cards. Thanks, Jason Xavier Michael
Yes, thank you Jason for the kind words…they mean a lot! I feel honored to win such a cool contest! I will definitely let you know if I am ever in your neck of the woods!
Hi! Yes, i did cut them myself. It was a little tricky and time consuming so I would probably only hand them out to extra special potential clients
We know that lots of you are great ambassadors for MOO and so we've been thinking of a way to say thank you. Which is why you can now actually earn money off your next order when you refer friends to MOO.Find out more
