A couple of weeks ago, we shared a crafty piece of inspiration for your left-over Christmas Cards and showed you how to create your very own crafty star. So we thought we’d continue the theme of home-made decorations made from printed products, and this time I was inspired by Chinese paper lanterns, and I realised they sort of look like baubles, too!
This craft is really straightforward to make; you don’t even need any glue, so it’s less messy! You’ll just need 2 greeting cards, a hole-puncher, a pencil, a ruler, 2 paper fasteners, 1 piece of string.
Here’s how to make your very own bauble from Holiday Cards:
1. Cut 10 pieces of card 20mm wide strips, punch one hole top and bottom of each strip.
2. Order the strips to make the desired design, and pierce through the stack with the paper fastener and secure it.
3. This part is a bit more fliddly. Pick the last layer strip and insert the paper fastener through, created a curve in the strip of paper. Continue same procedure with all of the strips, from inside out.
4. Securing the fastener when all the strips are in correct order. Hoop the string around one of the top strips and make a loose knot for hanging.
Voila! The great thing about this is that you can experiment with different designs and different sizes of paper; you can even make a bauble out of MiniCards!
Happy crafting and happy Holidays!
