MOO Awards – some of our faves

17th December 2012 by Melissa

Last month we announced the winners of our first ever MOO Award. There were only two winners, but there were so many wonderful entries that we thought we’d highlight some of the entries that really caught the judges’ eyes.

Benevolent is a charity that allows groups of people to donate to an individual in need – to help them raise money to fulfill something specific. Your one donation might not be enough, but by using crowdfunding a difference can be made in low-income individuals’ lives. Very cool.

Clouds and Stars produce a clever product that allows you to change a child’s bedding by just zipping off the top, rather than undoing everything. Those with children will understand the time and energy this saves!

Slow Journalism Company publishes Delayed Gratification magazine. You know how you often read news articles that barely have the facts straight? Delayed Gratification does thorough investigations of events three months after they happen. A refreshing backlash against the “MUST KNOW NOW” mentality.

{r}evolution is an apparel company that uses 100% domestic, recycled fabrics to create their signature product, the versalette. It can be worn 20 ways, making it not just recyclable before you buy it, but recyclable in your wardrobe too.

Earthstarter makes the Nourishmat, with the aim to help people eat healthy food, without having to spend lots of time in the garden. They really listened to what their customers needed, which led to their easy to use products.

PayasUgym will be a hit for everyone next month with healthy New Year’s resolutions. Rather than sign up to one gym (chain), you can sign up to their service which gives you access to hundreds of gyms, for a variety of different lengths.

Systematique produces the Mannequino, a flat pack mannequin. A genius idea for mobile retail units, or simply retailers without much space!

The Bicycle Academy is a commercial company with a charitable result. They run classes that teach you how to make a bike frame, but the first one you make goes to someone in need in Africa. They launched last year, and already have a wait list full of eager students.

But this is just the beginning…look out for more remarkable business stories in 2013.

Not to take anything away from the companies listed but this reads as a list of companies doing cool things which also happen to be MOO customers.
More relevant would be companies doing cool things AND using MOO products in creative ways.
Would be a great inspiration for customers and great promotion for MOO.
For example, the company which introduced me to MOO (robotresquehq.com) uses your products as hanging tags on their stuffed toys, stickers, adoption certificates, box inserts, etc.

  2. Melissa:

We like your thinking Aaron! Keep your eye out as we do plan to feature MOO Award entrants that have used MOO in cool ways. Until then, check out our Inspiration Gallery http://www.moo.com/ideas/inspiration.html

  3. Jessica:

Sadly, revolution apparel decided 5 days ago that they’re closing their business and they’ve already sold all their stock. I was so excited to buy a Versalette for my birthday in a couple of weeks, and now I’ll never get a chance…

  4. Helen M:

Great businesses with great stories. These are all very creative companies and I’d love to see their Moo products, as well as hear their stories.
Congratulations on the campaign and using these case studies – it’s win-win for everyone.
    Brilliant!

  5. Elizabeth:

I loved seeing the Benevolent Website on your page & that it won an award! Your Moo.com site is awesome!!
