Celebrity cards – From the Tooth Fairy to Columbus

27th June 2012 by Dan H

Hot off the back of our Zeus cards competition, we asked you to think about the Business Cards that the Tooth Fairy might hand out. Again, we were overwhelmed with the responses and seriously impressed with the time and effort some of you have taken to create the ideal card for the Tooth Fairy to leave behind.

Still, there can only be one winner and Monika has chosen Gavin Martin’s entry. Congratulations Gavin, you’ve won $300 in cash and $100 MOOlah to spend at MOO. Monika had this to say about Gavin’s design:

This clean and simple design has a really interesting use of negative space. Plus, I liked the nice suggestion for the email.

We’ve also selected three runners up – so congratulations to Vicky Trainer, Lisa Bosco and Josh Read. Some MOO goodies will be winging their way to you soon!

Here are their fantastic card designs:

You can check out all the Tooth Fairy card entries in the MOO Facebook gallery.

So who’s next?

Given the overwhelming response to these competitions, we thought we’d keep them going and have picked Christopher Columbus as our next target for a business card overhaul. Here’s our take on CC’s cards:

So get your thinking caps on and imagine what Christopher Columbus would hand out when he landed in a new location!

All designs will be entered to win $300 cash and $100 to spend at MOO so simply email your Christopher Columbus card designs to designs@moo.com or leave a link to them in the comments below by midnight (PST) on Wednesday 11th July and our designer, Monika, will pick out a winner.

  1. Gavin:

Thank you MOO for this competition, and to Monika, much appreciated!

  2. stinky:

Can you join in even if you are in UK?

  3. Lisa:

Did anyone notice there was a misspelling on one of the runner-up designs?

  4. Erin:

These cards are all excellent in design and I’m always amazed at people’s creativity and the creativity of the team at Moo for coming up with such a great contest. The editor in me, however, cringes at the one that says, “all teeth excepted”, which should read, “all teeth accepted”. I guess that particular fairy is bucking the system won’t take any teeth at all!

  5. Dan H:

    Hi Everyone

We did notice excepted/accepted on the cards and have asked Vicky if she’d like to send through a revised version. We loved the design and the effort from all our entrants was overwhelming.

We’re really looking forward to seeing what creative ideas are submitted for the Christopher Columbus cards!

    Thanks

  6. Debbie Living:

Loving the tooth fairy cards. Have been inspired to do one for Christopher Colombus!

I noticed it, Lisa! In fact, I couldn’t believe it got in because of that! I read it several times to see if they were trying to do a play on words or something, but no, there’s no redemption—not for the maker and not for MOO!!

  8. Gretchen:

Using the negative image of the fairy for the root of the tooth, was a great design choice!

  9. Madison:

Here is my entry for the Christopher Columbus card competition
I have also e-mailed it – but here is a link to share with all of you!

This was so fun to make and definitely a great idea for a competition!!
    Keep it up :)

  10. Dan H:

    Hi all

Just a quick note that Vicky has sent through her amended card and, as you’ll notice, this has been updated in the blog.

We’ve had some fantastic entries already for the Columbus cards and we can’t wait to see what other designs will be submitted.

    Good luck everyone!

  11. Adam:

I’ve sent mine in, but it would be nice to be able to post it here.
Can you post into message or does it need to just be a link?

    • Dan H:

      Hi Adam.

Thank you for your entry! If you’ve got the image hosted somewhere else online you should be able to share it, but there’s no tool to upload images from your computer directly into comments.

      Thanks

  12. Dan:

I just found out about this! I was totally excited to start going to work. I wasn’t sure if you guys got them, so I’m sharing them here just to be safe. (:

  15. Brian:

I wanted to create something that could have existed in the days of Columbus, not something he would have created if he were alive today. Can’t wait to see the other entries!

      Hi Denise

We received your entry safe and well. Monika is judging the cards and we’ll be announcing a winner shortly. Thanks

  17. Mal Webster:

I emailed my entry over a week ago, but thought I should share it here too. It was a fun little design to work on and by the look of the other entries, everyone else enjoyed developing a concept too!
