The evolution of Business Cards

20th March 2012 by Dan H

As you may have noticed, we kinda have a thing for Business Cards. But, we’re not the first! So, to help spread the love, we thought we’d create this clever infographic that looks at the evolution of Business Cards – from their origins in 15th Century Japan right through to the modern day developments in card stock and printing techniques.

I love the infographic … I kinda love ALL infographics, really. It might be a sickness.

I noticed something that appears to be a typo. In the 19th century column, it says that it was patented in “Parid”, which I think is supposed to say “Paris”. Just wanted to be helpful… :)

  2. Dan H:

Hi Jacob. Good spot! All fixed now

    Thanks
    Dan

  3. Shawn Graham:

Love it. I’m definitely glad printed business cards haven’t gone the way of the dodo bird (as many have predicted over the last few years).

There’s just something about the exchange that makes those interactions much more interesting. Plus, you can usually tell who is printing cards out of their basement and that gives you the chance to tell them about the awesomeness of moo.

  4. Matt Rutherford:

I have some ‘stone’ business cards at home that I picked up at a flea market in China, they are awesome things – about the size of a small post card and quite intricate, I have no idea of age – or even the business they are for – but they feel nearly as precious as my current MOO cards!

  5. Virvey:

Thank you for the personalized 100% recycled material cards and holder. More than happy now. So are the people I’ve given some cards as they get to choose the one they like the most.

Great inforgraphic! I think it is a great way to describe something rather than traditional text. Very interesting to see the business card evolve. Thanks for sharing!
