Or the Oyster, anyway. Not long ago, Meg Pickard, MOO friend, inventor of the anti-valentine card – and the MOOgnet – blogged about her Stickers, and the fact they’re the perfect size for an ‘Oyster’ card holder.
For the un-initiated, ‘Oysters’ are a London thing. No, it’s not a deep-seated love of expensive bivalve mollusks, merely the the crazy-spectacular name for bus/train pass, available from London Transport.
(Personally, I think they called it that because they planned it to go in a holder like this and they think that opening up the ‘shell like’ holder reveals the ‘pearl’ of a card inside. What do you think? Have I over thought this? Have you ever travelled in London? Believe me, there’s a lot of time for thought.)
Anyway. This is Meg’s holder

And this is mine.

So now we’ve shown you ours, I reckon you should show us yours. It doesn’t have to be from London, but if, like us, you had a pack of stickers and a boring 5 minutes, where did your Stickers end up?
Sorry, can’t find anything like this.

I think the Oyster name derived from ‘The world is your Oyster’ but until they get them to work on all the London rail networks, then at the moment it’s not even all of London, let alone the world!
@Steve J, doh! I think you could be right… I wish it was the world. Somehow the far reaches of Barnet or Croydon don’t feel quite the same :)
Mine are bringing a little colour to an otherwise boring guitar. Now if I could just teach the little fellas how to play drums I could start busking.
I tried to liven up my ancient old CRT Screen at work! (apologies for poor quality mobile phone shot!)
In terms of the name, I think it’s also quite possible that they were somewhat inspired by the Octopus card system in Japan.

Please Moo, could you invent Moo Style Oyster Card Wallets which we can personalise? It would definetly make my commute more fun!
